Urban Revitalization – Harrison, NJ

The Town of Harrison in Hudson County is a small community whose original economic engine was heavy industry and manufacturing activity. Throughout the 1990’s, the bulk of Harrison’s industry had moved out and in 1999, the Harrison Redevelopment Agency was up and running and looking for developers to invest in the area. As a result, the Waterfront Redevelopment plan was implemented with a vision to transform 250 acres of obsolete industrial facilities into a new, pedestrian friendly, transit-oriented, mixed-use developments adjacent to the PATH Station and along the banks of the Passaic River.

Throughout the last 15 years, InSite Engineering professionals have provided Professional Engineering, Surveying, Permitting, and Construction support services for the many projects that have been developed as a result of the Waterfront Redevelopment Plan. We have collaborated with the incredible teams of architects and landscape architects to help the developers achieve their goals for their revitalization of Harrison. Some of the projects of note are The Element Hotel, Harrison Station 300, Harrison Station 330, Urby Harrison, Dey and Bergen, The Eddy, and the Town of Harrison Parking Garage. This has resulted in 25 acres of redevelopment, over 2,350 residential units, 40,500 SF of retail space, 138 hotel rooms, 1,550 SF of conference rooms, and nearly 3,000 structured parking spaces. We have also witnessed the existing adjacent PATH Station become modernized with additional amenities for the public to further the goals and vision of the Waterfront Redevelopment plan.

We are honored to have played a role in the extraordinary urban revitalization of Harrison, NJ and will continue to be involved with new projects that are part this beautiful and exciting waterfront redevelopment vision.
